So, I went to go see Unstoppable with friends, while it was still in the theater. Surprisingly, it was pretty good! I was skeptical... I mean, it's a train. It's on a TRACK. It's not like there's a lot of ways it can go. But it managed to be entertaining, suspenseful, and have some pretty likable characters.
Next? Hopefully either "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" or "Tangled"!

Trying a New Dog Food- Blue Buffalo
![]() |
| Rhett and I enjoying the nice fall weather during a trip to Holmes Lake, in Lincoln. |
They've been advertising it all over cable TV and it looks REALLY good... very healthy, with human food-grade ingredients. I got it home and opened up the bag, and Rhett came running over and immediately SAT DOWN! That's what he does when someone has a treat he REALLY wants! Encouraged, I mixed it half-and half with his old food and fed it to him dry...and the big goofball immediately went through and picked out all the new stuff to scarf down, and left his old food in the bowl!
Aside from being cost-prohibitively expensive, it might be a good fit. We'll give it a try and see if he continues to be so enthusiastic about it.

Considering Contagion
I'm thinking about getting an artist/author booth at Contagion: Outbreak for 2011. This is one of the area's pop culture/sci-fi/gaming conventions, and should be a lot of fun... whether or not I participate or just go for fun.
Gonna check out the planning meeting next Friday on the 10th at Borders on 72nd and Dodge and see what I think.

Character Portrait- Kurzak, for Joel
This is Kurzak, a character from the Friday night D&D game I'm playing in. Kurzak is a half ork-half dragon, built on the Pathfinder system. I had a lot of fun with this one... it was hard!

The Ghost Rider
My spirit walks these lonesome valleys
and dusty plains
Where once thrived a town
Longing for the days of life,
with my six-shooter and flesh horse
Beneath me.
There's a story in the graveyard,
a song sweet, yet sad told in
Furtive whispers from beyond.
For now, the dead mutter the unspoken
regrets of life.
But for me, a wanderer in both life
and death,
There are no regrets, for the wind
is now my mount,
And the lightning my gun!

Interesting week, hot weather, catching up...
Yep, I've been getting caught up on The Gilded Shackle updates. You'd think since I'm just reformatting stuff from the old WordPress site and moving it over, I'd be able to get it done on time! If only it were that easy, eh? Anyway, I got the last couple ones that I "owed" up, and am set up for the next week! Yay!
On a related note, I'm working on art as I can, too, and have a pile of things to ink and hopefully scan and get up where they belong. This week should be a busy one, with doc appts, a market research study, and other stuff. Hopefully I can get the horses trimmed, too! I'm trying to run down our farrier and get that on the schedule.
This hot weather is dreadful. I went to walk Rhett at 7 this evening, and when I opened the door he balked and looked up at me like "Do I HAVE to?"
